My name is Tony Giannotti,
and I’m the creator of The Nommist.
The Nommist is my food blog exploring flavors, food science, successful and unsuccessful home experiments.
I’ve always loved cooking and see it as a personal challenge – How can I push my abilities and produce great food for the people I love? I’ve never been to culinary school, but food is definitely my love language. I’m self-taught with advice and lessons from many people and research over the years through trial and error, mainly.
I’ve worked in the food industry in the past, but I never pursued it as a career. I get my drive from digging into my current interests, so working for someone else never sounded very good to me. For example, I spent over three years studying the art of sourdough and bread making, which my Instagram will show you. And I took no breaks from it during that time.
The way I see it, if we’re going to take anything with us when we leave this world, it’ll be our experiences. So, eating great food with great people and having great laughs and listening to great music fills my heart and soul.
I hope you find a few recipes to share with family and friends on this website, but I truly hope you make a few of them yourself. I share what I cook, and I eat what I share. So, if you do make any, let me know how they turned out by leaving a comment and be sure to tag me in your photos.
The Nommist on Facebook
In 2011, I had a few friends mention that they didn’t care about the dinner I posted on Facebook. That’s when I decided to separate normal posting from my food, and The Nommist was born.
The Nommist on Instagram
Instagram pretty quickly replaced my activity on Facebook. I was far more into just sharing photos with a quick caption, than writing whole posts. It was easier to use and is still my most active account today.
TheNommist.com
In 2018, I wanted to offer more when it came to recipes and long-form blog posts. I purchased the domain and used my graphic design skills to create this website. It’s gone through quite a few changes, but I hope you like the current version!
What the Future Holds
I have some pretty big plans for The Nommist’s future, but I won’t divulge them just yet. I’m planning on adding a few more timeline blocks here, so stay tuned.
